Thisdivisionprimarilycomprisesthemultimediasub-divisionandthewhitegoodssub-division,withdetailsasfollows:
1.Themultimediabusiness
TheCompany'smultimediabusinessfacestheglobalmarket,mainlyincludingdomesticcolorTVbusinessandexportcolorTVbusiness.
ThedomesticsalesoftheCompany’scolourTVsarerealizedmainlythroughB2B(Business-to-Business)andB2C(Business-to-Consumer),withitsbranchcompanies,businessdepartmentsandafter-salesmaintenancepointsoperatingacrossthecountry.AndtheCompanyprofitsfromthemarginsbetweenthecostsandthesellingpricesofitscolourTVs.
AsforsellingitscolourTVsabroad,theCompanymainlyreliesonB2B.ItscolourTVsaresoldtoAsiaPacific,MiddleEast,Central&SouthAmerica,EastEurope,etc.AndoperatingprofitsourceisalsothedifferencesbetweenthecostsandthesellingpricesofitscolourTVs.AccordingtostatisticsfromAVC,theretailsalesinthedomesticcolorTVmarkettotaled13.51millionunitsinthefirsthalfof2024,down7.9%yearonyear.Inthefuture,withtheintegrationofemergingtechnologiessuchas5G,theInternetofThings,artificialintelligenceandnewdisplayswithconsumerelectronicsandtheintroductionofconsumptionpolicies,thecolorTVindustry'sstructurewillcontinuetobeupgraded.
2.Thewhitegoodsbusiness
ThewhitegoodsproducedbytheCompanymainlyincluderefrigerators,washingmachines,airconditioners,freezers,etc.,whicharesoldthroughB2BandB2Cmainlytothedomesticmarket.AndtheCompanyprofitsfromthemarginsbetweenthecostsandthesellingpricesofitswhitegoods.TheCompanystrengthenedthefoundationofourwhitegoodsbrandsthroughtheacquisitionoftheFrestecbrand.Meanwhile,theestablishmentoftheNingboA/CproductionbaseasajointventurehashelpedtheCompanybuilditsownA/Cmanufacturingcapability.Theweaknessinthefront-loadingwashingmachinetechnologyhasbeenovercomebytheacquisitionofBeko(Front-loadingWashingMachine) ChinaFactory.In addition,theCompanywent onanew pathofexploringthedishwasherworldbysettingupXi’anSmartAppliancesPark.TheCompanyalsooptimizedtheinternalR&D,production,procurement,sales,andservicesprocesses,integratedtheexternalchannelresourcestoenablechannelsharingbetweentheupstreamprocurementprocessesand downstream sales processes, and continuously improved the product sales structure andcompetitivenessofthewhitegoodsbusiness.
AccordingtostatisticsfromAVC,thedemandinthedomesticairconditionermarketwasunderpressure.Thedomesticairconditionersalesfromallchannelsinthefirsthalfof2024totaledRMB111.4billion,down14.5%yearonyear.Regardingrefrigerators,duetothetrade-inpolicy,peopleweregraduallymakingpurchasestomeettheirdemand,andthedomesticrefrigeratormarketwasstableonthewhole.Thedomesticrefrigeratorsalesfromallchannelsinthefirsthalfof2024totaledRMB65.2billion,up0.4%yearonyear.Asforwashingmachines,thedemandinthedomesticwashingmachinemarketreboundedslightly,buttheaveragepricecontinuouslyfell.Thedomesticwashingmachine(excludingdrycleaningmachine)salesfromallchannelsinthefirsthalfof2024totaledRMB42.7billion,up1.8%yearonyear. (II)Thesemiconductorandmemorychipbusiness
Currently,theCompanyisengagedinmemorychips,optoelectronics,etc. Inmemorychips,theCompanyprimarilyengagesinpackaging,testingandsales.Inthefieldofoptoelectronics,theCompanymainlyfocusedonthreebusinesssegments,i.e.microLEDandminiLEDchips,masstransfer, and display, and promoted the transformation of its optoelectronics business fromtechnologyR&Dtoindustrialization.Afterindustrialization,theoperatingprofitwillderivefromthedifferencebetweenproductcostandsellingprice.
Thesemiconductorindustryisastrategic,fundamentalandleadingindustrythatsupportseconomicandsocialdevelopmentandsafeguardsnationalsecurity.Amongthem,semiconductorstorageisthelargestsubdivisioninthesemiconductorindustryinrecentyears.Chinahasalsoacceleratedinboostingtheproductioncapacityofsemiconductorstorageinrecentyears.Itisexpectedthattheself-sufficiencyratewillcontinuetoincrease.
MicroLEDandMiniLEDaretheprevailingtrendanddevelopmentdirectionoffuturedisplaytechnology.Theindustrialchainisdividedintofourmainlinks:upstreamchipmanufacturingandmasstransfer,midstreampanelmanufacturing,anddownstreamcompletemachineapplication.TheMicroLEDandMiniLEDhavewideindustrialapplicationandabroadmarket.(III)ThePCBbusiness
TheCompany'sPCBbusinessmainlyinvolveddealinginmetalsubstrateproducts,thickcopperproducts,high-densitymulti-layerandHDI(HighDensityInterconnect)productsandrigid-flexPCBproducts.TheCompanyadoptedaB2Bbusinessmodel,anditsproductswereconcentratedonfourmajorelectronicfields,namelynewenergy,automotiveelectronics,communicationsanddatacenters, and new consumer electronics. The Company’s core competitiveness lies in its manufacturing ability, R&D ability, brand,marketingnetworkandhumanresources.Intermsofmanufacturingability,theCompanyhascarriedoutintelligentupgradingofmanufacturingbasesinAnhui,Dongguan,Suining,Xinxiang,etc., of which the Anhui Konka plant has been awarded the title of "National IntelligentManufacturingDemonstrationFactory",withanadvancedintelligentmanufacturinglevelintheindustry. (I)Overview
DuringtheReportingPeriod,theCompanyfollowedthenewdevelopmentstrategyof"OneAxis,TwoWheelsandThreeGrowthDrivers,"andadheredtolong-termvalue-orientedprinciplesaswellastheoperationalstrategyoffocusingonthelongtermandimprovingspecializationtobecomestronger.Italsodeepenedintegrationforspecializationandimplementedleanmanagementtopromotehigh-qualitydevelopment.DuringtheReportingPeriod,theCompanypromotedbusinessrestructuringbyoptimizingsomebusinesslineswhichdidnotproduceagoodsynergiceffectwiththemainbusinessandhadalowgrossmargin.Asaresult,theCompany'soperatingrevenuedeclinedyearonyear.Affectedbythefollowingfactors,theCompany'snetprofitattributabletoitsshareholdersforthefirsthalfof2024wasnegative:
1.Inthefirsthalfof2024,theCompanyactivelyadjusteditssalesstrategyforitsdomesticcolorTVbusinessandoptimizedtheproductstructure.Despitetheyear-over-yearincreaseintherevenueandgrossprofitandthegradualimprovementoftheoperations,theCompany'scolorTVbusinessstill suffered a deficit due to the limited room for reduction of necessary expenses and thecontinuouslyintensifyingcompetitionintheindustry.
2.Inthefirsthalfof2024,duetothechangesinthepricesofthetradingfinancialassetsheldbytheCompany,theCompany'snetlossonchangesinfairvaluewasapproximatelyRMB-175million,whichaffectedthenetprofitattributabletoitsshareholders.
3.Inthefirsthalfof2024,basedontheprincipleofprudence,theCompanysetasideprovisionsforassetimpairmentofapproximatelyRMB255millioninaccordancewithaccountingpoliciesandestimates,resultinginadecreaseinprofit.
4.Inthefirsthalfof2024,theCompany'ssemiconductorbusinesswasstillattheinitialphaseofindustrialization.Inspiteoftheheavyinvestment,efficientlarge-scaleproductionhadnotbeenachieved,whichaffectedtheCompany'soveralloperatingprofit.
5.TheCompanyfocusedontwolinesofbusiness,"consumerelectronics+semiconductor",and,withtheindustrialdevelopmentneedstakenintoaccount,strategicallyreducedtheinvestmentintensity,henceayear-on-yeardeclineinrelatedincome.
